Steven Dean Robertson

Steven Dean Robertson of Lenexa, Kansas, entered the presence of Jesus on December 15, 2023, at age 60. He died peacefully at home after 13 months on hospice due to AL Amyloidosis. Steve was born to Dean and Carolyn Robertson on December 27, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East and also from Calvary Bible College. Steve and Holly served with Ethnos 360 for 9.5 years in Ivory Coast, working among the Palaka people of Ivory Coast. Steve learned the Palaka language and co-taught through key Old Testament stories, laying a foundation for the gospel. Steve helped present the gospel in 2000. Many Palaka accepted Jesus as their Savior and the Palaka are still reaching their own people with the gospel. Civil unrest led to evacuation in 2002 and again in 2004. Steve worked for KC Foundation for several years and then worked at Demdaco for 13 years. He was Lead Production Analyst. He worked for Creative Planning as Business Intelligence Analyst for 5 months until his health worsened.

Steve accepted Jesus as his Savior at age 16 at the Youth For Christ Circle C Ranch. Five years later he came to understand the truth of letting Christ live through him as the power for godly living. It was this central truth that enabled Steve to think of becoming a missionary in Africa. The theme of Steve’s life was dependence on Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Robertson. He is survived by his wife of 36.5 years, Holly (Bassett) Robertson and their four sons, Justin Robertson, Travis (and Joanna) Robertson, Preston (and Morgan) Robertson and Zachary Robertson, and 4 grandchildren, Paxton and Meredith Robertson, and Joy Robertson and Baby Still-in-the-Womb Robertson. He is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Robertson, his only sibling, Kathy (and Ed) Garcia and two nephews, Andrew Garcia and Nathanael (and Doty) Garcia.

The Memorial Service will be held at Shawnee Bible Chapel (12230 W. 75th St, Shawnee, KS 66216) at 1:30pm on December 31, 2023. Instead of black, please wear bright colors to express belief in the resurrection. A dessert buffet will follow.

The Memorial Service will also be available by Zoom:

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Steve’s honor to one of these organizations:

Steve was a class act! A true friend and wonderful co-worker! Smart, dedicated and un-wavering. You will be so missed dear friend. Until we meet again, keep a seat in Heaven for me.

I didn’t get the news about Steve until after his departure from this earth. We met in the late 60’s at Youth for Christ & had many discussions about the Lord. As our paths separated, I wondered what happened to Steve. It’s amazing how quickly life does go by & I’m thankful to know he’s in the presence of Jesus. May each of you remaining be comforted by Jesus during this difficult time, yet praise Him for His gift of salvation & His plan for each of our lives. You all are in my prayers. I look forward to the reunion one day in Heaven for all of us that know Jesus! Blessings,
    Shannon Jipsen
