Susan “Susie” Elizabeth Carter (Cardinale), age 77, of Raytown Mo, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, after a brief unexpected illness that she fought with all her strength.
Born in White Plains, New York, on March 2, 1949, to the late Louis and Elaine (Short) Cardinale, Susie grew up in Hawthorne NY and graduated from Westlake High School in Thornwood, New York, in 1967, traveling between NY, Florida and Kansas City through her life.
She was a wonderfully strong, resilient, and loving mom who will always be remembered for her kindness and laughter. Her happiest moments were spent under the sun, searching for the perfect seashell with her family during many unforgettable vacations at the Jersey Shore. When she wasn’t at the beach or attending her water aerobics class, listening to Smokey’s Soul Town, or searching QVC & HSN, she could be found relaxing in her chair watching the hummingbirds while hearing the latest news from her family on the East Coast. She was an avid viewer of the Lifetime Movie Network, Baywatch, Wheel of Fortune, Let’s Make a Deal, Everybody loves Raymond and Heartland.
Her vibrant spirit lives on through her devoted children: her daughter, Danelle “Dani” Cardinale, and life partner Bob White; and her son, Russell Carter, and his wife, Linda. Grandchildren, Nick Carter, and Jade Jackman. Susie leaves behind her siblings, who shared in her life’s adventures and whom she loved deeply: her sister, Stephanie (Ron) Lukacs; her sister, Sheila (Ben) Dauria; and her brother, Jerry (Janine) Cardinale. Her love extended deeply to the nieces and nephews she was so proud of: Kristen (Austin) Cardnay, Nicole (Chris) Brady, Dan Cardinale, Dean Lukacs, and Brandon Lukacs. She is also survived by four great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, Jack, Charlie, Olivia, and Spencer, her aunt, Sally Riedman, several cousins, and extended family friends. Predeceased by her parents & beloved sister Diane Cardinale.
Her family asks that you honor her memory by enjoying a sunny day at the beach or pool, watching a cheesy TV drama, or simply hugging your loved ones a little tighter today. We extend a special thank you to KC Hospice House for their exceptional care and assistance, please consider donating to this amazing organization, and to KU Hospital for taking great care of her during this courageous battle.
Services will be held Saturday August 8th from 10-12 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133.
We will miss you Sue. We both shared the love of the same man. My husband Leslie Fox 🦊. She thought he was sexy. Until we meet again long time friend. We love you.
Sue, thank you for being a part of our family, and bringing Dani and Russell into our lives. You will be missed.
