Terry Michael Austin, age 79, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri, with his family by his side.
Born on October 31, 1944 in Paola, Kansas, the son of Franklin C. Austin and Juanita Fay (Byrne) Austin. Terry graduated from William Chrisman High School, Independence, Missouri in 1962. When Terry was 19, he met his dearly beloved wife, Maggy; they had two children and began their lives together. Since childhood Terry had a deep passion for God, the outdoors, his kids and grandchildren. When he wasn’t working as manager at various grocery stores across the metro you would find Terry at church, hunting, fishing, gardening, constructing, volunteering or attending various sporting events. After retirement, Terry and Maggy moved to Warrensburg, MO to spend their time on the farm and soak in the beauty of God’s creation. Terry’s most pride and joy was playing with his grandchildren and teaching them all of the outdoor activities. His strong faith in God shined daily through his actions and exclamation of all the blessings he had in his daily life.
Terry will be deeply missed by all of his family and close circle of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Ann (Nystrom) Austin; his son, Scott Michael Austin; his grandson, Dylan Michael Austin; his brothers Mark Price and Allen Austin; his sister Beverly (Price) Stencel, and his nephew, Shawn Michael Catlett.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Todd Austin and wife Marty of Warrensburg; brothers, Byron Austin (RuthEllen) and Gregory Price (Glenda); and sister, Janice (Price) Harrington. Terry also leaves behind two granddaughters, Saige (Austin) Loecker (Andrew) and Nicole (Kronke) Riener (Montahna); and grandson, Brody Christopher Austin; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Terry’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to his loved ones will be remembered fondly. He was a cherished family member whose legacy will continue through the lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Friday, August 16th, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Raytown, Missouri. Visitation will be held at 2pm. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Terry’s life and the many memories he leaves behind.
Those who wish to remember Terry in a special way may make contributions in his memory to St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.
Prayers for the family. Terry was such a great guy. We knew them from our church in Sedalia.
