Thomas Eugene Bryant

Thomas Eugene Bryant from Grain Valley Missouri at the age of 75, passed away Wednesday morning on May 1st at the St. Luke’s East Heart Institute. At his bedside he was “surrounded by his family”. He was the only child born to Peter Eugene Bryant & Beverly Jean “Bryant” Kowalczyk on November 3rd, 1948, in Kansas City Missouri.

Tom attended & graduated in public schools in Independence Missouri & attended Truman High School. He also went to Graceland college & was on the dean list. He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Jean Kowalczyk. Tom was an Eagle Scott, State wrestler & played middle linebacker at Truman High School. He had strong ambitions to be a dentist & went to school at UMKC to pursuit his dreams but eventually went into commercial building & union carpentry.

He acknowledged his faith in God at the RLDS Community of Christ Temple church in Independence Missouri.

In December 1970, he married Cynthia Faye Skelton in Joplin Missouri. This marriage was blessed with three beautiful children. They had two daughters named Tamara Ann Applequist & Heather Faye Bryant & one son Justin Eugene Bryant. He loved all his children & provided for his family working long hours & travelling when work was dry in Missouri. He enjoyed spending time with his kids at the lake, deep sea fishing, tennis, river rafting & grilling out. Tom was a great cook, athletic & smart. He had an addictive laugh & a handsome smile. He was very witty & had a way to make everyone laugh in the room. He had a huge heart & he always made sure everyone had enough to eat. There is nothing he would not have done for his kids & always provided good advice during challenging times.

Tom worked in many capacities as a union carpenter. He worked at Kansas City Carpenters Union, local #1329 for over 35 years and all over the country, depending on the job & location offered. He built a beautiful house in 1980 for his wife & family in Grain Valley, Missouri on ninety acres of land. Tom had multiple skill sets & was an excellent carpenter. He was the superintendent, when building the Hard rock Café & New York, New York casinos in Las Vegas Nevada. He was immensely proud of his children & made every effort to tell his kids he loved them.

He leaves behind, to celebrate his victory, his loving mother, Beverly Kowalczyk of Blue Springs Missouri, his children, Tamara Applequist (Jimmy Applequist), Justin Bryant (Jessica Bryant), Heather Bryant of Kansas City, Missouri, his grandchildren, Mike Klesath, Savannah Mason, Konner Bryant, McKenna Bryant, Avery Fraley and great grandchildren that all live in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, Raytown, MO. The visitation begins at 2:00pm followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm.
