Travis Christopher Meier

Travis Christopher Meier, 36 of Olathe, KS, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 28th, 2021.

Travis was born December 24th, 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Lenexa, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Economics where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He attended Shawnee Mission West High School where he played basketball and ran cross country for four years along with participating in baseball and track, graduating in 2003. He was passionate for his alma mater KU Jayhawks and hated that his birth certificate was from Missouri. He enjoyed playing golf, attending concerts and all things KC, especially the Royals and Chiefs; he will have the best seat in the house at the Super Bowl this year! He valued his friendships and his family deeply, especially his cousins who were also his friends. Anyone who met him remembers his infectious smile and ability to talk to anyone which helped him throughout his sales career.

Travis was preceded in death by his dear little sister Emily Meier, who passed away at age 2 when Travis was just 5 years old but he kept her memory with him forever; his maternal grandfather, William Gleason, paternal grandmother, Marian Meier, paternal grandfather, James Meier and Uncles Billy Gleason and Paul Meier.

Survivors include his parents Denny and Mary Beth Meier, brothers Joe and Michael Meier, grandmother, Lu Ann Gleason, many cousins, aunts and uncles as well as his many dear friends.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas or Project 1020.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Monday, February 8th, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa, KS. A memorial celebration of Travis’ life will be held this summer.

Travis was a great friend that I’ll miss for the rest of my life. Truly one of the nicest guys I’ve ever known. I feel fortunate to have sat next to him at Jeff and Mallorys wedding. We had good conversation that night and I got a picture with him that I’ll treasure forever. I miss him already.

    Mary Beth and Denny,
We just learned of your son Travis’ death. While we moved to Texas in July, we keep in touch with Brighton neighbors from time to time. We were saddened and surprised to also learn of your daughter’s death many years ago. So much tragedy and grief to endure seems a lot to bear. We are both so sorry.
You are such wonderful people who are so kind. We wish We had the perfect words to comfort you. Please know we care and you are in our hearts and in our prayers.
God Bless you and your other sons as well as Travis who is in the arms of Jesus.

  45. Bridget Quarrels on February 21, 2021 at 2:33 pm

To the Meier’s, I pray that God gives you strength for the loss of your son, Travis. The Bible says, that absent from the body, is present with the Lord, God is holding Travis in his arms. I will truly miss him, but we all will see him one day. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
