Truman A. Plaster, 87, Independence, MO passed away November 12, 2003. Memorial Services will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, November 20 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, Raytown, MO. Graveside Services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 25th at Logap Cemetery, between Norborne and Plymouth, Missouri. Truman was born March 1, 1916 in Ludlow, MO. He was called to active duty by the Army on August 11, 1942. He separated on November 11, 1945. He was on the second wave of men on the Omaha Beach landing. He was on the front line across France and Germany. Truman was awarded 5 Bronze Stars for Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe, Normandy, and Northern France in 1945. A Good Conduct medal, a No Time Lost lapel button, Entitled To Wear American Theatre Campaign ribbon, European-African Ribbon, Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign ribbon, Victory ribbon and 3 Oversea Bars were also issued for Truman’s service to his country. His unit was known as Roosevelt’s SS Troops. Five trucks were shot out from under him with no wounds. Truman has 6 living cousins, Marvin Riggle, Independence, MO, Ivan and Eldon Riggle, Norman Jean Warner, and Janis Parks, all of Carrollton, MO.
