(Velma) Jean Schmitz, of Independence, MO passed away October 8, 2021 at The Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30-11:00. Velma Jean Schmitz Memorial Service.
Ms. Waller was born February 4, 1929 in Kansas City, MO. Jean went to work at age 16 at Sears. She worked there for 37 years. She loved to travel, camp, and vacation. Jean loved her family and friends. This was her life!
She was preceded in death by: loving husband of 67 years, Eddie Schmitz; parents, Harvey and Lelia Waller; brother, Delbert Waller.
Survivors include: her kids, Mary Lynn and Gary Brush of New Franklin, MO; grandson, David (Kelly) Brush; great-grandchildren, Douglas Brush and fiancé Jackie Goodfriend-Creek, Tyler (Marisa) Brush, Lena Brush, Brooks Brush, and Benton Brush; brother, Cecil Waller; nieces, Sharon Knott, Carol (Bob) Dean, Alana (Paul) Williams, and Freda Leonard; nephews: Steve (Teresa) Waller, Tim Waller, David Waller, Mike (Lora) Waller; sister-in-law Jeannine Drummond; great niece, Christy (Brian) Morris; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A beautiful lady has left us. She became a wonderful friend in my retirement, and she will always be in my heart.
