VELMA REED

Velma  Reed, 91, was born in Turlock, California. She grew up in southwest Kansas and attended nursing school in Halstead, Kansas. Upon graduation, she worked at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Later, she served in the U.S. Army as a nurse until WWII ended.  She married John Reed in Kansas City, 64 years ago.  They were blessed with five loving children, Steve, Patty, Rebecca, John C., and David.  These beautiful children presented her family with 8 wonderful grandchildren, a great grandchild, and another great grandchild on the way.  She considered herself truly blessed.  She was grateful for the gift of life here on earth and now journeys onward as she makes her transition. Velma was remarkable for her unselfish, accepting and giving nature.  She will be greatly missed. Remembrances and condolences can be posted online at www.heartlandcremation.com.
