Vera J. Dunnington

Vera J. Dunnington age 77, of Lee’s Summit,  Mo, passed away October 27, 2019.  Vera was born March 20, 1942 in Buffalo, Mo to Benjamin A. Lamar and Cecil (Gibson) Lamar.  Vera met her soon to be husband in Pleasant Hill,  Mo in the spring of 1964. After they were married, they spent their time raising 4 amazing children.  They were married 53 years before Charlie passed in 2017. Vera was a mother/homemaker above all.  She also had a passion for home interiors, which she did for over 25 years.  She then worked for Metro Auto Auction and finished her career as a florist.  She loved to get the family together as much as possible.  She truly was the rock of the family, and created many family traditions that will continue in her name.  Our memories of her will brighten our days for years to come.  She is survived by 2 daughters Geanna Allen and Patsy Dunnington, a son Jason Dunnington, a brother Kenneth Lamar, 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  Vera was preceded in death by father Benjamin, mother Cecil, brother William, daughter Cathy, grandson Charles Justin and great granddaughter Nevaeh.

A memorial will be held from Noon to 6:00 PM, on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Vera’s home, 203 SE 1st Street, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. She will be laid to rest at the Missouri State Cemetery in Higginsville, MO with her husband, Charles at a later date.
