Veronica Barnes

Veronica “Bonnie” Dilk Barnes, 84, died peacefully Feb. 11, 2005, at John Knox Village Care Center. A memorial mass will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at our Lady of the Presentation Church, 130 NW Murray Road, in Lee’s Summit, MO. A 12:30 p.m. luncheon at the church will precede the service. Her cremains will be interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY. Bonnie was born on July 10, 1920, to Robert and Mary Isabelle Finegan. Due to the death of her mother at her birth, she was soon adopted and raised as an only child by her wonderful parents, Fred and Frances Dilk. She resided in Rochester until 1995 when she relocated to Lee’s Summit. Bonnie was preceded in death by her former spouse of 25 years, Howard D. Barnes. She will be dearly missed by her children; Richard (Dana) Barnes, Littlestown, PA; David Barnes, Rochester, NY; Douglas (Mary) Barnes, Lee’s Summit, MO; Daniel (Donna) Barnes, Rochester, NY; and Deborah (Charles) Duvall, St. Augustine, FL. She also leaves eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bonnie retired in 1979 from Xerox Corp. where she was an administrative assistant and then became a certified nursing assistant. She was an active volunteer for many organizations over the years including Hospice Care, Reading to the Blind, Lee’s Summit Hospital, TMC-Lakewood, JKV Auxillary and as a Eucharistic minister in Rochester and at Presentation. She delighted many of her friends and family with her wonderful sense of humor and her unending compassion for others.
