Vickie Louise Davis of Kansas City, MO, was a beloved mother, daughter, and sister who passed away on August 7, 2025. Vickie was born on October 23, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri. Vickie was the cherished daughter of Esque and Vernita Martin. Vickie was the youngest child of this union.
Vickie was baptized at St. Stephen’s Church and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She attended elementary and high school in the Greater Kansas City area and was a lifelong Kansas City resident. As teenagers, she and her brother Mike, along with a group of teens, would ride their bikes to Swope Park. Vickie loved to go swimming. Even as an adult, she still loved anything that had to do with water activities and would often take her nieces and nephews to water parks or to the community swimming pool.
Vickie was a devoted mother to her two boys, Antwonne and Shedrick Jr. During their younger years she was a stay-at-home mom. Vickie loved children and became a second mom to the neighborhood children, often taking care of them and being there for them when they needed help. She also loved cooking, especially for her grandchildren.
Vickie had a big heart and was a very generous person. She would give anyone the shirt off her back and expected nothing in return. Prior to her illness, Vickie held various jobs that included housekeeping and working as a dispatcher for the Grandview Fire Department.
Vickie, first and foremost, was loved by God and additionally by her family. She brought joy wherever she went. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Dovie and Eli Myles, and stepfather Clifford Sargeon. Vickie leaves to mourn her memories: her mother Vernita Sargeon; father Esque Martin; brother Michael Martin (Donna); sons Shedrick Davis Jr. (Hunni), and Antwonne George (Andrea); 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 2pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3pm, Friday, August 22, 2025, at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. Please click on the link below to live stream the service.
