Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Vicky Sue Shrader passed from this life to the next on September 12, 2018, after a brave battle with COPD and cancer. She was celebrated into heaven, surrounded by family and her beloved dog at her side.
Vicky was born March 31, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas to Donald Roy and Margie Earline (Miller) Naden. She spent most of her childhood in Newton, Kansas, where she graduated from high school. Following high school, she moved to Emporia, Kansas where she met and married her one true love, Charles Alton Eakins. They were blessed with three children.
Vicky and Charlie later moved to Salina, Kansas where Vicky worked and retired from the Saline County Sherriff’s Department. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially gathered around the table with food she prepared in love. She liked to read and work daily crossword puzzles. And she considered every dog her friend.
Vicky will be greatly missed by her children, Jennifer (Craig) Ostrander, Charles “Tony” (Shakira) Eakins, and Erin (Doug) Stein; her grandchildren, Hannah and Hans Ostrander, Elisha, Nicholas, Gabe (Scott), Alex, Charlee and Allie Eakins, and Reagan and Zachary Stein; her sisters, Donna (Doyle) Orrell, Jackie (Glen) Rumsey, and Jenny (Patrick) Buss; and many nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of Vicky’s life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the nursing and pastoral staff at Serenity Care Hospice for their loving and tender care of their dear mother.
I had the pleasure of working for Cpl Shrader both after first starting as a Corrections Officer then if I filled in.
I was happy she retired from that place and missed her.
My deepest condolences to her family members…
So sorry for your loss. I went to high school with Vicky. She always had a smile on her face and that, in turn, put a smile on everyone else’s face. I realize this is very late, but just found out of her passing.

My sweet, sweet step sister rest in peace. Love you
Vicky, of course I’m late with this a few years. I list track of you after your retirement and found out much later you’d passed.
It was a pleasure to work with you. You certainly were one of the many that helped in my transition at the Sheriffs Office.
Rest in peace my friend. You are missed
