Virginia Mae Sigman
Virginia M. Sigman, 79, of Lee’s Summit, died at home on August 18, 2010. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., on Wednesday, August 25, at Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Virginia was born October 10, 1930 to Amelia and Walter Borchers of Blackburn, MO. She attended college at Warrensburg and taught school for many years in the Hickman Mills School District. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Van, but survived by their four children: Scott and Laurie Sigman, Belton; Vanessa and Brian Richardson, Lee’s Summit; Sheila and Chuck Blaschke, Lee’s Summit; Steve and Kathy Sigman, St. Louis; 10 grandkids: Chaz Blaschke, Alexa Blaschke, Kyle Richardson, Lauren Richardson, Jessica Sigman, Cassie Sigman, Emily Sigman, Mike Schubert, Jessica Schubert, and Laura Schubert. Virginia’s favorite hobby was singing in the Lousy 11 and Raytown Community Choir. Van and Virginia enjoyed traveling for many years with the Raytown Road Roamers camping club and with their grandkids as well. Mema was a special person in the lives of many, especially her grandchildren. She specialized in attending their sporting events, school functions, and ultimately high school and college graduation ceremonies. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
