Virginia Mattox

Virginia (Gena) Mattox, 87, passed away March 22, 2006, in Kansas City, MO. She was born in Harrisonville, MO, to Earl and Lucille Grisham. She graduated from East High School and pursued a business career. Mrs. Mattox lived a good portion of her life in California. After marrying “the love of her life” James Mattox in 1967, they moved to Norman, OK, where she worked and retired from the University of Oklahoma. She returned to Kansas City in 1984. Virginia was predeceased in death by her parents; her husband, James F. Mattox; and one brother, Michael R. Grisham. She leaves to mourn her passing, her brother, Milton L. Grisham and his wife, Pat of Lithicum, MD; her sister-in-law, Shirley Grisham of Kansas City, MO; her nieces, Sandra Bressman of Belton, MO, Tracey Phoebus of Longmont, CO; and nephews, Terry Grisham of Kansas City, MO and Mark Grisham of Elkridge, MD. Mrs. Mattox also had five great-nieces, four great-nephews, five great-great nieces and one great-great-nephew. She cherished each and every one of them. The family will share in a private celebration of life memorial. Gena, beautiful lady, our sweet “Golden Girl” you will be missed. Praise God, you are home at last.
