Vivian Kay Rowles McGraw, beloved wife, mother, and nana, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by the family she adored.
Vivian was born in Booneville, MO, on January 23, 1945, and raised in Sedalia, MO. Vivian lived a full life of love and laughter with family & friends. She was married to Charles McGraw for 57 years. They met in college at the University of Central Missouri where she majored in Education. She also received her Masters & Specialist Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary School Administration. She served as an administrator in several school districts such as; Fort Osage, Odessa and Lee’s Summit. Her students, co-workers, and mentors adored her.
Her greatest joy was her family; besides the love of her life; her 2 two children (Chad & Marcie) daughter-n-law (Tara) and 7 grandchildren (Chase, Maci Kate, Marley, Demi, Lily, Ciara, & Mac). She also leaves a lifetime of beautiful memories with dear friends and extended family who loved her deeply.
From the moment you met Vivian, you felt like you belonged. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her laughter was infectious. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard and loved. She laughed often & easily, finding humor in everything. Her laughter will echo in our hearts forever. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and joy. Though we will miss Vivian beyond words, we are taking comfort knowing her love will always surround us.
Services will be held at the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit, MO, at 11:00 AM Friday, March 7, 2025 with reception to follow. Please wear something with a splash of red, it’s what she would be wearing.
Donations may be made to the We Care Children’s Program at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church.
