Willard Swoffer, 72, of Independence, MO, passed away June 21, 2011. A memorial service will be held 10 AM Saturday June 25th at Village Heights Community of Christ Church 1009 Farview Dr, Independence, MO. Willard is survived by his wife, Charlotte, daughters Karma Tucker, Marla Terrell, Tonya Coldiron, son Kevin Swoffer and 12 grandchildren. He was former Fire Chief of Independence, a high school teacher at North East High School; Athletic Director at Park University and City Council Member for the City of Independence.

My ex husband and I used to work for Willard and you at your mother in laws and also your place in Blue spgs in 1982/1983 We were live in house parents. I have thought many times of you all. I truely thought highly of you both and learned many good life lessons from you both while living there that have helped me on my lifes journey as well as raising my children. You both were always so positive about every thing :0) I am saddened to hear of Willards passing but smile to know he is with his heavenly father now. Blessings to your entire family and know that you have touched many with your kindness. Here I am over a thousand miles away and 28 yrs later and I still remember you both on a regular basis and think of you fondly. Please know your in my prayers.
