Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
William C. (“Bill”) Boaz II, 76, passed away on February 23, 2008 with loved ones at his side. He was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. He served in the Navy from 1952-1956. After an honorable discharge, he pursued an education which culminated in a Master’s of Business Administration from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. He worked for United Missouri Bank for 22 years in Corporate Trust, Securities Processing and Employee Benefits.
Bill attributed his successes in life to a combination of hard work and lucky breaks. He offered a helping hand to others as a volunteer for Project Literacy and Special Olympics. He sponsored a child in Haiti for many years. He served others with humility and believed “your altitude should not affect your attitude.”
Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor. He was always ready to share a joke and often put others at ease with funny stories about his own foibles. He also enjoyed gardening and especially loved to grow roses.
Bill loved to read and collected witty sayings, proverbs, and stories that touched his heart. An excerpt of one of his favorites, “To Remember Me” by Robert N. Test, follows:
“Burn what is left of me, and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses, and all prejudice against my fellow man. If by chance, you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever.”
Bill is survived by his three children. The family is grateful to the staff of Clare Bridge of Leawood and Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care. The family encourages donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Kansas City, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208.
No services are planned at this time but fond memories and condolences may be left for the family in the guestbook section at www.heartlandcremation.com
I remember him as a very nice person when my father passed away in 1985 when he came down to be the executior of the will.
