William (Bill) Herrin, 77, of Lee’s Summit, died January 6, 2010, at the John Knox Village Care Center. Bill was born in 1932, in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO, in 1955. He married Dorothy Mae Fuka, the love of his life, in August of 1955. Bill was happiest when teaching and learning. His hobbies included woodworking with a particular skill in designing clock cases. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing, and visiting family, particularly the grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great nephews. He received a Master of Science from the University of Iowa, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas. He worked at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Simpson College, Indianola, IA; North Park College, Chicago, IL; IBM in Kansas City; the University of Kansas Medical Center; Welborn Hospital, Evansville, IN; and the University of Evansville. He is survived by son, Mark (wife Karla) of Charlestown, Indiana; daughter Rigel Headley (husband Rick) of Lakewood, CO; son Jon (wife Caron) of Mehlville, IL; his niece Francine Shaw (husband Russ) of Carol Stream, IL; and nephew Edward Fuka (wife Becky) of Hampshire, IL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy. Bill and Dorothy moved to Lee’s Summit in 2002 to enjoy a retired life of travel and extensive volunteer work including Harvesters Community Food Network, One Good Meal, and as volunteers at the John Knox Village Care Center. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and spouses, six great grandchildren, and three great nephews.
