William D. “Bill” Lewis

William D. “Bill” Lewis, 90, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, passed away February 21, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 4, 1932 in New Boston, Ohio, the only child of Norma and Harold Lewis. He graduated from Ashland High School where he met his wife Leola “Odie”. They recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. He was very devoted to his family and friends.

Bill was a retired veteran. He served in the Army during the Korean War and in the Kentucky National Guard during Vietnam and Desert Storm. He also retired from AK Steel after 40 years of service, where he was an accomplished machinist.

Bill was a member of the Northeast Kentucky Fish and Game Club and an active board member for many years. He was very involved in the shooting sports and passionate about gun safety, teaching many youth programs.

He was also a member of Garner Baptist Church.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son David Lewis. He leaves behind his wife Leola; daughter Kathi (Mike) Lewis of Shawnee, Kansas; grandchildren Bill (Lacey) Lewis of Ashland, Kentucky; Jeremy Lewis of Ashland, Kentucky; Brett Lyons of Chicago, Illinois; Kylie Lewis of Austin, Texas; and great grandchildren Lincoln Lewis, Saharreh Lewis, Eden Mantle and Kaia Mantle , all of Ashland, Kentucky and Kodi Lewis of Huntington, West Virginia.
