William Sumpter

William Earl Sumpter, 84, of Huntsville passed away Sunday July 13, 2008 at his home.  He was born September 5, 1923 in Chariton County to the late Isaac Earl and Mary Elizabeth (Ancell) Sumpter.  Mr. Sumpter served in the Army during World War II.  He was honorably discharged in 1945 with a Purple Heart and other decorations.  He is survived by his wife, Vivian, son, Larry (Barbara), daughter, Alona Timmerman (Sonny), stepsons, Roy, Brian, Brett and David Baker as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Sumpter has been cremated and family services will be held later at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery.
