Our beloved William “Billy” James Brooks, born November 19, 1988, in Columbia, Missouri, passed away April 28, 2025, at his residence. Loving father of Drake, Isaac, and Hazel of Bourbon, Missouri. Beloved son of Steven and Rebecca Brooks of Columbia. Treasured brother of Christopher Brooks of Greenville, Missouri, and Jay Miller of Columbia. Dear nephew, cousin and friend to many.
Billy graduated from Douglass High School in Columbia in 2006 where he played point guard for the Douglass Bulldogs. After graduation he attended Linn Technical College, in Linn, Missouri.
We will remember Billy as sharp, charismatic, fun-loving, and quite competitive on family game nights. He could take over a room with his resounding voice, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh. He will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him.
Billy struggled with mental illness and substance abuse during his entire adult life. We would like to make a plea to those with similar struggles to reach out to family and friends for help. You are loved.
A memorial service for close friends and family will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
i met billy in 2004 at the centralia park, he became a great friend to me throughout my high school years. we lost touch, it makes me sad to know he continued to struggle and my heart goes out to his family, friends, loved ones, children etc. billy was such a character and a great person, i will cherish our memories at young crazy teens. 90s babies!
I’m so sorry for your loss. He sounds like a wonderful person. My condolences to all his family.
Dear William, I wanted to tell you I would have never permitted this incident if we were living under the same roof. Bro, you’re my favorite person to laugh with. Me and you had such a good times together & now I have to continue to live here without you. I cry so hard thinking about you. May the light reign supreme in our lives, amen. You’re my amazing, dear, brother.
Steve and Becky, so very very sorry. There are no words. I pray for peace and comfort for you both and your family!!!!
